When you look back at your wedding photos in twenty years, what do you want to feel? Do you want to see the precise, polished story of how the day looked, or the high and heartfelt energy of how the day moved you?
Choosing a photographer and style of photography is one of the most personal decisions you’ll make when choosing to document your union. In my years of work, letting love, and faith lead my creative perspective and drive. I question but what if they didn’t have to choose just one style? My approach lives in the balance between traditional preservation and editorial contrast, tied together by a documentary and photojournalistic. It’s a whirlwind just thinking about this approach, however for me it’s become one quite simple and beautiful that I enjoy and love to navigate with each of my couples.
The Traditional Anchor: Preserving the Legacy
Traditional photography is the art of balance. It’s about encapsulating people and their purest emotions within a perfectly composed frame. Here, we focus on the harmony of positioning and lighting to ensure every detail is timeless, well captured and exactly how it was lived. It’s intentional and steady ensuring that the tear in a parent’s eye or the way your partner reacted to your private vows is preserved exactly as it happened.
The Editorial Spark: Bold, Edgy, and Energetic
On the other side of the spectrum is Editorial photography, the beautiful opposite of balance. It thrives on contrast. This style is bold, stylish, and unapologetically edgy. For me personally inspired by cinematic storytelling and studio portraiture, it uses shadow and movement to evoke a high-fashion forward image. It doesn't just document; it celebrates the "icon" status of your moment.
My Approach: The Documentary Bridge I Walk On
I believe the most honest wedding stories aren't found in a textbook; they are found in the "in-between."
My philosophy is rooted in a photojournalistic, documentary approach. I spend the majority of your day as an observer, capturing the organic flow of events without interference. However, I am always watching for those shifts in atmosphere.

While playing pool with the guys, with one adjustment to a moment already in the making, “lean in a bit more for the shot” created a fun bold image!
CINAMATIC
One simple prompt, “hold hands and ring around the bride”, the energy instantly shifted. Created movement, connection, and a cinematic energy that no traditional pose could replicate.
When the energy of the day begins to peak, whether it’s bold confidence coming through in your portraits or the absolute chaos on the dance floor that has everyone smiling ear to ear. It’s where I lean into that Editorial edge even more. I anticipate and make room for each of my couples to show up, letting their energy lead the way. By connecting with you and simply holding space to understand how each moment is taking shape, I can pivot from a quiet, balanced traditional perspective to a fun, light powered editorial shot in a heartbeat.
